Beta-Glucuronidase
Also known as: b-Glucuronidase; b-D-Glucoronidase; Glusulase; Glycuronidase
Description
Beta-Glucuronidase is a type of Hydrolase Enzyme. It is released by activated Neutrophils.
Biological Function of Beta-Glucuronidase
Metabolism
Beta-Glucuronidase catalyzes the of various Glucuronides to Glucuronic Acid and an Alcohol:
This activity of Beta-Glucuronidase is potentially toxic as many dietary Cancer-causing compounds (carcinogens) are deactivated and subsequently excreted from the body via Glucuronides. Beta-Glucuronidase breaks the bond between Toxins and Glucuronic Acid (Glucuronides) which results in re-activation of the Toxin.
Toxic Effects of Excessive Beta-Glucuronidase Activity
Immune System
Excessive Beta-Glucuronidase activity may increase the risk of various types of Cancer (by breaking the bond between various carcinogens and Glucuronic Acid (Glucuronides), Beta-Glucuronidase re-actives de-activated carcinogens):
Excessive Beta-Glucuronidase activity may increase the risk of Breast Cancer (by re-activating potentially carcinogenic Estrogens). [1]
