Dermal Papilla
Overview
The Dermal Papillae are superficial projections of the Dermis that interdigitate with recesses in the overlying Epidermis of the Skin. They contain vascular loops, and specialized Nerve endings, and are arranged in ridge-like lines best developed in the hand and foot. They contain a high population of Fibroblasts.
The Dermal Papilla in Hair (Hair Papilla) are knob-like indentations of the bottom of the Hair Follicle upon which the Hair Bulb fits (like a cap). It is derived from the Dermis and contains vascular loops.
