Blackheads are a Skin condition consisting of a "plug" composed of fatty material in the outlet of the Sebaceous Glands to the surface of the Skin.

 

Biology of Blackheads

 (Oxidized) Keratin is responsible for the black color of Blackheads.

 (Clogged) Sebum is a component of Blackheads.

 

Blackheads may Occur in Conjunction with these Ailments

Aging Process

 The incidence of Blackheads increases in tandem with the progression of the Aging Process (81% of people over the age of 64 are found to have Blackheads).  [1]

 Blackheads may occur in association with Acne.
