Wernicke's Area
Description
Wernicke’s Area is a region within (one of but not both) the Temporal Lobe of the Cerebral Cortex of the Cerebral Hemispheres of the Cerebrum of the Brain. In most right-handed people and 60% of left-handed people, Wernicke's area is located in the Temporal Lobe of the left Cerebral Hemisphere (at its upper back edge).

Wernicke's Area is responsible for the conversion of thoughts into Speech (spoken words).
Wernicke's Area relays Nerve Impulses relating to Speech to Broca's Area within the Frontal Lobe of the Cerebral Cortex.
