Description

The Cerebral Hemispheres are two distinct Hemispheres within the Cerebrum (the Left Hemisphere (Left Cortex) and the Right Hemisphere (Right Cortex)).  These two Cerebral Hemispheres are connected to one another above the Thalamus and through multisynaptic pathways to the Brain Stem by the Corpus Callosum.

Biological Function of the Left Hemisphere (in most people)

Nervous System

In most people, the Left Hemisphere (which controls the right side of the body) is the Speech Center as well as being the dominant Hemisphere.

In most people, the Left Hemisphere is logical, analytical, linguistic, sequential in the way that it processes information and follows reason.

Biological Function of the Right Hemisphere

Nervous System

In most people, the Right Hemisphere is more involved in Creativity than the Left Hemisphere.

In most people, the Right Hemisphere is emotive, intuitive, holistic, picture-oriented and simultaneous in the way that it processes information.

Hemisphere Dominance

Most people favor one Hemisphere over the other.  For most people this is the Left Hemisphere.

The more dominant Hemisphere is more electrically active and the non-dominant Hemisphere is more electrically silent.
