Overview

Bursitis is a condition involving Inflammation of a Bursa (small sac of fibrous tissue that is lined with synovial membrane and filled with fluid - normally formed around Joints and where Ligaments and Tendons pass over Bones).  Bursitis produces Pain and tenderness and sometimes restricts movement at a nearby Joint - it is regarded as a form of Rheumatism.  The most common locations for Bursitis are the shoulders, the elbows, the knees, toes, heels, pelvis, hips and the big toe (Bursitis occurring around the big toe is known as a Bunion).
