Platelet Aggregating Factor is a Hormone produced by the Adrenal Cortex of the Adrenal Glands.
Toxic Effects of Excessive Production of Platelet Aggregating Factor
Cardiovascular System
Excessive PAF may be implicated in Atherosclerosis.
Excessive PAF may cause impaired Blood Circulation to the Brain. [1]
Excessive PAF may cause abnormal and excessive Blood Clotting.
Excessive PAF may cause Cerebral Insufficiency (impaired Blood Circulation to the Brain). [2]
Digestive System
Excessive PAF may be implicated in Ulcerative Colitis. [3]
Immune System
Excessive production of PAF is implicated in Allergies - excessive PAF stimulates the production of excessive quantities of Eosinophils and stimulates Eosinophils to release Hydrogen Peroxidase enzyme that destroys Antigen/Antibody complexes. [4]
PAF may be implicated in Cancer.
PAF may initiate many of the biochemical reactions associated with Inflammation. [5]
Metabolism
Excessive PAF may cause the generation of Free Radicals.
