Description
Pinworms are a type of Roundworm. They are ivory or pearly-white in color. A single female Pinworm can deposit 15,000 or more eggs within a few hours.
Prevalence
Pinworms are the most prevalent worm parasite in humans in North America.
Complications associated with Pinworms infection are more prevalent in women than in men. This stems from the fact that the female worm, after depositing her eggs, loses her way while trying to return to the Colon. Pinworms have been found in the Vagina, Uterus and Fallopian Tubes.
