Acute Phase Reactants are Endogenous Proteins whose concentrations in Blood serum increase or decrease in response to (acute) Inflammation.

 

Function of Acute Phase Reactants

Immune System

 The level of many Acute Phase Reactants in the Blood serum serves as a biomarker for the presence of Inflammation (and for many of the ailments associated with Inflammation).
