Thyroid Cancer is a form of Cancer characterized by malignant tumor(s) occurring in the Thyroid.
Prevalence
Women are two to three times more likely to develop Thyroid Cancer compared with men.
Most Thyroid Cancer patients are aged 40+. Most Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer patients are aged 65+.
The incidence of Thyroid Cancer is increasing.
There is an hereditary aspect to Thyroid Cancer – a family history of Thyroid Cancer increases the risk.
Thyroid Cancer has a recurrence rate of up to 30% and these recurrences may occur even decades after the original Cancer. Persons who have previously been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer should be monitored throughout their lifetime.
