Pylorus
Description
The Pylorus is the lower end of the Stomach that leads to the Duodenum. It terminates at the Pyloric Sphincter that regulates the flow of digested food into the Duodenum.
Biological Function of the Pylorus
Digestive System
The Pylorus contracts to prevent the entry of food into the Duodenum when the chemical composition of the foods in the Stomach is inappropriate or when the quantity of food in the Stomach is excessive (the side effect of this action is suppression of Appetite).
