Description
Methemoglobin is a toxic endogenous Protein formed when the Iron atoms present in Hemoglobin become oxidized from their normal Ferrous form to the toxic Ferric form. It is a non-functional form of Hemoglobin.
Toxic Effects of Methemoglobin
The presence of Methemoglobin in the circulating blood is known as Methemoglobinemia.
Cardiovascular System
Methemoglobin may cause severe Anemia (known as Methaemoglobinemia).
