Sleep laboratory studies have demonstrated that Temazepam reduces the number of nightly awakenings, but has no effect on Sleep latency (the time taken to fall asleep).
Temazepam reduces the duration of Stage 3 Sleep and combined Stages 3 and 4 Sleep (Slow-Wave Sleep). This is accompanied by a compensatory increase in the duration of Stage 2 Sleep. Rapid Eye Movement (REM) Sleep is unaffected by Temazepam.
