Proteus is a genus of mile, peritrichous, non-sporeforming, aerobic to facultatively anaerobic Detrimental Bacteria from the Enterobacteriaceae family. Proteus contains Gram-negative rods. Proteus Bacteria are present in fecal matter and in putrefying materials.
