Description
Terpenes are a group of Unsaponifiable Lipids that are chemically similar to Sterols but are based on multiples of the unsaturated hydrocarbon structure of Isoprene (C5H8) - note that Isoprene itself is not a Terpene.
Chemical Structure of Terpenes
Monoterpenes are Terpenes that are based on 2 Isoprene residues (C10H16). Monoterpenes are constituents of Volatile Oils.
