Lipids - Unsaponifiable
Description
Unsaponifiable Lipids include many endogenous Lipids such as Steroid Hormones and Sterols; and substances in plants that are components of their Volatile Oils or which mimic the body's endogenous Steroid Hormones - i.e. Saponins. Chemically, Unsaponifiable Lipids are defined as those Lipids that cannot be hydrolyzed by a alkaline base.
