Carotenase is a type of Oxidoreductase Enzyme.

 Carotenase catalyzes the conversion of Carotenes to Vitamin A within the Intestines and Liver:

 Carotenase catalyzes the conversion of Beta-Carotene + Singlet Oxygen to (2 x) molecules of Retinal.

 Iron is a cofactor for the activity of Carotenase.
