ODA is a recently introduced (during 2000) anacronym for Optimal Daily Allowance.  This is the amount (per day) of a nutrient that is generally agreed (by nutrition-oriented doctors and other nutrition experts) to be necessary for the prevention and/or treatment of chronic degenerative diseases.  The ODA recognizes that RDAs (Recommended Daily Allowances) only provide short-term protection against serious acute nutrient deficiencies.
