Adaptogen is a term used in herbal medicine to describe a natural substance that possess a wide range of regulatory activity which help the body adapt to stress and exert a normalizing action promoting homeostasis.

For instance adaptogens may lower blood pressure in persons with high blood pressure, while raising blood pressure in persons afflicted with low blood pressure.

Science is not exactly sure how adaptogenic herbs work but they can bring balance to:

 Adrenal function

 Blood sugar metabolism

 Energy levels

 Immune function

 Inflammation response

 Nervous system
