Blood Serum Progesterone levels usually rise approximately three months after commencing the use of topical Progesterone cream.
The disadvantage of Blood Serum or Blood Plasma Progesterone testing is that these tests will include Protein-bound (to Cortisol Binding Globulin) Progesterone. Protein-bound Progesterone is not very biologically active. It is more relevant to measure unbound Progesterone (which can vary from 1% to 10% of total Progesterone).
