Description
Receptors are specialized sites on the outside of Cells that recognize particular "messenger" molecules (especially Hormones and Neurotransmitters) and then interact with or attach to that molecule, allowing it to enter the Cell or to stimulate it in a specific manner, often resulting in corresponding changes within the Cell.
