Pons
Also known as: Bridge; Metencephalon; Pons Varolii
Description
The Pons is a component of the Brain Stem situated between the Medulla and the Thalamus. It appears as a bulge in front of the Cerebrum - it is separated from the Cerebrum by the fourth Ventricle.

The Pons functions as a "relay station" for Nerve Impulses relating to the sensations of Pain, Temperature and Touch.
The Trigeminal Nerve (Cranial Nerve V) enters/exits the Brain from the Pons.
