Tartrazine
Overview
Tartrazine, also known as Acid Yellow 23; C.I. 19140; FD&C Yellow No. 5; Filter Yellow; Food Yellow No.4, is a synthetic yellow-orange Coloring Agent derived from Coal Tar. Tartrazine is a widely used artificial food dye that can cause adverse effects in sensitive individuals, including allergic reactions, hyperactivity in children, and migraine triggers.

Tartrazine may be implicated in some cases of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD) - consumption of Tartrazine may provoke the symptoms of ADHD in some children.
