Myoglobin is a type of Protein.

Myoglobin stores Oxygen inside Muscles (especially in Type I and Type IIa Muscle Fibers) and releases it during periods of intense Muscle activity, when the Oxygen delivered by circulating Red Blood Cells may be insufficient (i.e. when Hemoglobin is unable to supply the Muscles with sufficient Oxygen to sustain muscular activity).
