Blepharitis

Description

Blepharitis is a general term for Inflammation of the Eyelids.  Depending on the type or severity of Blepharitis, the symptoms can include Itching, swelling, redness, scaling and crushing of the Eyelashes and Eyelids.

Prescribed Medications

 Cortisol (applied topically via Eyedrops or Eye Ointment) is often prescribed to reduce the Inflammation associated with Blepharitis.

 Prednisolone (applied topically via Eyedrops) is often prescribed to reduce the Inflammation associated with (nonpurulent) Blepharitis.

Eyes

 Inflammation of the Tarsal Glands may cause Blephitis.

Skin

 Insect Bites/Stings (when they occur on the Eyelids) may cause Blepharitis.

 Seborrhea (when it affects the Eyelids) may cause Blephitis.
