Description

Galactosemia is an condition characterized by elevated serum levels of Galactose.  It occurs as a result of the absence of an Enzyme that converts Galactose to Glucose within the body.

These complications occur if Galactose is not eliminated from the diet of Galactosemia sufferers.

 

Eyes/Vision

 Galactosemia may cause Blindness.

 Galactosemia may cause Cataracts.

 

Nervous System
