Colon Cancer - Causes

These Substances may Increase the Incidence of Colon Cancer

Amines

 Some types of Heterocyclic Aromatic Amines (HAAs) (e.g. PhlP) may cause Colon Cancer.  ^[1]

Bile Acids

 Excessive production of or accumulation of Bile Acids (especially secondary Bile Acids) may cause Colon Cancer:  ^[2]

 Excessive immobile Cholic Acid may cause Colon Cancer.  ^[3]

 Immobile Deoxycholic Acid may be a precursor for Colon Cancer - if the body's Bowel transit time is slow and Bile is permitted to stagnate in the Bowel, Detrimental Bacteria will convert Deoxycholic Acid into the extremely carcinogenic 3-methyl-cholanthrene (3-MCA).  ^[4]

 Excessive production of or accumulation of Lithocholic Acid may cause Colon Cancer.  ^[5]

Carbohydrates

 Excessive consumption of Simple Sugars may increase the risk of Colon Cancer:  ^[6]

 Excessive consumption of Fructose may increase the risk of Colon Cancer.  ^[7]

 Excessive consumption of Sucrose may increase the risk of Colon Cancer:  ^[8]

 For instance one study has shown that one teaspoon of additional sugar per day increases Colon Cancer risk by 40% and an additional three teaspoons or more increases the risk of Colon Cancer by 100%.

Electromagnetic Radiation

 Excessive exposure to (both environmental and medical) X-Rays may increase the risk of Colon Cancer.

Enzymes

 Excessive Beta-Glucuronidase activity in the Colon has been associated with an increased risk of Colon Cancer.  ^[9]

 Excessive production of Bile may contribute to Colon Cancer (due to Bile Acids).

 Excessive Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) production/activity may cause Colon Cancer.  ^[10]

 Hyaluronidase (Hyaluronate Lyase form) may increase the risk of Colon Cancer.

 Excessive Ornithine Decarboxylase activity may be implicated in the development of Colon Cancer (due to Ornithine Decarboxylase’s involvement in Cell proliferation).
