Stroke - Ailments that Cause
These Ailments may Cause Strokes
Cardiovascular System
(Ischemic) Strokes may occur as a result of Atherosclerosis - due to the atherosclerotic plaques that are implicit in Atherosclerosis impairing Blood Circulation to the Arteries that supply the Brain. Atherosclerosis is the most common underlying cause of (ischemic) Strokes. [1]
Persons with high diastolic Blood Pressure (i.e. over 95 mm/Hg) (i.e. Hypertension) are twice as likely to die from Stroke than people with a lower diastolic Blood Pressure (i.e. below 80 mm Hg): [2]
Hypertension increases the risk of Intracerebral Hemorrhage (a type of Hemorrhagic Stroke). This occurs from Hypertension causing Arteries and Arterioles in the Brain to become weakened.
