 Dietary Vitamin B6 is readily absorbed by the Jejunum of the Small Intestine (by a non-saturable, passive process) and then phosphorylated to Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate by the enzyme Pyridoxal-5-Phosphatase.

 Although supplemental oral Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate (P-5-P) is available commercially, the Phosphate molecule of P-5-P is removed from the ingested P-5P before it is absorbed, thus negating the claimed advantage of consuming supplemental Vitamin B6 in its Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate form:
