Flavanols

Description
Flavanols are a group of colorless or reddish-brown Polyphenols. All Flavanols comprise various combinations of the stereoisomers of Flavan-3-ol (Catechin or Epicatechin). Flavanols were previously (and sometimes still are, but nutrition-wise incorrectly) regarded as a sub-group of Bioflavonoids. They are now classed as a separate, independent class of Polyphenols, but are regarded as being equivalent, hierarchically, to Bioflavonoids.
