Chemical Data
Flavones are often colorless and lack the 3 hydroxyl group of Flavonols. They possess a 2,3 double bond that is lacking in Flavones, Flavonols, Flavans, Anthocyanins and Protanthocyanins. Bioflavonoids that lack the 2,3 double bond of Flavones become Flavanolols. The "4" position of Flavones possess an Oxygen atom. When two Flavone structures become bonded together, the resulting Bioflavonoid becomes a Biflavonoid. Isoflavonoids are isomers of Flavones.
