Omeprazole is sometimes prescribed for the short-term treatment of active Ulcers - Duodenal (due to its ability to totally inhibit the secretion of Hydrochloric Acid within the Stomach): [1]
Omeprazole (60 mg per day for three days of each week) prevents the recurrence of Duodenal Ulcers.
Omeprazole is prescribed for the treatment of Gastritis. It “works” by blocking the release of Hydrochloric Acid in the Stomach. This reduction in Hydrochloric Acid is thought to permit the Stomach to heal.
Omeprazole is sometimes prescribed for the treatment of severe Heartburn(due to its ability to totally inhibit the secretion of Hydrochloric Acid within the Stomach). [2]
