Nifedipine alleviates tha Pain associated with Angina (by reducing Oxygen requirements in Angina patients).
Nifedipine alleviates High Blood Pressure.
Mechanism of Action
The contractile processes of vascular Smooth Muscle and Cardiac Muscle are dependent upon Calcium ions. Calcium ions enter Smooth Muscle and Cardiac Muscle during depolarisation as slow ionic transmembrane currents.
