 Biguanides are utilized in the treatment of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 - they increase the sensitivity of the Muscles to Insulin and Glucose (i.e. they counteract Insulin Resistance) and lower Blood Sugar levels (by facilitating the transport of Glucose into Muscle Cells.
