Description
Antacids are a group of Prescribed Medications that reduce acidity in the Digestive Tract by neutralizing Hydrochloric Acid secreted in the Gastric Juices of the Stomach. Commercial Antacids are usually composed of a metal mineral ion (such as Aluminium, Magnesium, Calcium or Sodium) linked to an alkali (such as Hydroxide, Carbonate, Bicarbonate or Trisilicate).

Antacids are usually used (without good cause) by people afflicted with Indigestion or Heartburn.
Physicians often (incorrectly) recommend Antacids for the treatment of Peptic Ulcers.
Toxic Effects of Antacids
Antacids should never be used for lengthy periods of time due to their various toxic effects.
