Legionella pneumophila

Legionella pneumophila a species of Legionella Detrimental Bacteria.  It normally resides in Water.

 Legionella pneumophila causes Legionnaire’s Disease:

 Although several other species of Legionella can also cause Legionnaire’s Disease, Legionella pneumophila is responsible for 85% to 90% of cases.

 Legionella pneumophila has been detected in Water distribution systems, standing Water in ventilation systems and water handling equipment such as cooling towers.  The release of potentially contaminated aerosols is inherent in the design of cooling towers.
