In the presence of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) deficiency, Docosapentaenoic Acid (DPA) may be manufactured in the Brain as a substitute for DHA - DPA is not naturally present in the Brain but when DHA is deficient, the Brain manufactures the nearest Fatty Acid (in terms of unsaturation and chain length that is possible, even though DPA is a n Omega-6 Fatty Acid rather than a Omega-3 Fatty Acid).
