Description

Cytokinins are Plant Hormones (Auxins) with a chemical structure resembling that of Adenine.  In plants, their function is to promote cell division.

 

Cytokinins are present in almost all Plants and are at their highest levels in areas of continuous growth such as roots, young leaves, sprouts, developing fruits and seeds.

 

Types of Cytokinins

 Kinetin

 Zeatin (present in Corn/Maize)
