Description

Trimethylamine is a type of Amine.

These Substances may Cause the Endogenous Production of Trimethylamine

Vitamins

Trimethylamine is a byproduct of the degradation of dietary (or supplementary) Choline - it is usually only formed when large quantities of Choline are ingested.  [1]

Undesirable Effects of Trimethylamine

Excretory System

Trimethylamine is responsible for the unpleasant "fishy" Body Odor that often occurs when excessive quantities of Choline are ingested, when unabsorbed Choline manages to reach the Large Intestine where Bacteria then convert this excess to TMA (the "fishy" odor of Fish is also attributable to TMA).  [2]
