Description

Glutathione Synthase is a type of Lyase Enzyme.

Biological Function of Glutathione Synthase

Glutathione Synthetase catalyzes the production of Glutathione, Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP) and Orthophosphate from Gamma Glutamyl Cysteine, Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) and Glycine.  Glutathione Synthetase is the rate-limiting enzyme for the production of Glutathione.

These Substances may Enhance the Production of Glutathione Synthase

Amino Acids

Glutamine may increase the activity of Glutathione Synthetase.  [1]

Hormones

Melatonin stimulates the production and activity of Glutathione Synthetase.  [2]

Minerals

Selenium is an essential component of Glutathione Synthetase.
