Description

CYP2B6 is a type of Cytochrome P-450 Enzyme.  It comprises approximately 0.5% of total Cytochrome P-450 enzyme activity. 

 

Function of CYP2B6

 Like all Cytochrome P-450 enzymes, CYP2B6 is responsible for the (Phase I) detoxification of various substances in the Liver.  The following substances are acted upon by CYP2B6:

 

Prescribed Medications

 Amitryptiline

 Bupropion

 Cyclophosphamide

 Codeine

 Haloperidol

 Imipramine
